Bell reuses a small number of shield shapes across many models, so a single replacement shield is usually listed against six or seven helmets at once. That is good news if you own a Qualifier DLX, an RS-1, an RS-2 or a Vortex, because those four sit on the widest-shared shield in our catalogue and can take every one of the ten Bell-fitment visor listings we stock.
It is less good news if you own a Bullitt. The Bullitt uses its own shield and shares it with nothing else, so it draws on exactly one listing.

How to read that table
“Visor listings” is the number of separate products the category page shows for that helmet. “Tint and finish choices” counts every individual shield you can actually select once you are inside those listings, because one listing can carry anything from a single clear shield up to eleven different finishes. The two numbers answer different questions: listings tell you how many product pages to look at, choices tell you how much real variety you have.
The split between photochromic and fixed-tint listings matters more than the totals. A photochromic shield changes its own tint as the light changes, so it is one shield for a whole day. A fixed-tint shield is whatever you bought it as, which means clear, smoke or a mirrored finish, and you swap it when conditions change.
Four groups tie at the top with ten listings each. That is not a scoring accident, it is the actual shape of the catalogue: the Qualifier DLX, RS-1, RS-2 and Vortex are all served by the same set of shields, so anything that fits one of them fits the other three. They are separated below only by the tie-break rule, and you should read entries one to four as a single tier.
Why one shield fits so many Bell helmets
Helmet makers change shells far more often than they change visor apertures. Retooling a shield mechanism is expensive, so a manufacturer that has a working eye-port profile tends to carry it forward through several model generations and across several price points. Bell has done this consistently, which is why the fitment lists on our Bell listings run to six or seven helmet names rather than one.
The practical consequence is that the helmet name printed on your shell is a better guide than the year you bought it. A Vortex from some years ago and a current RS-2 can take the same shield, because the aperture and the pivot plate never changed between them.
There is one important exception in the Bell range, and it catches people out constantly. The Revolver and the Revolver Evo are not the same fitment on this catalogue. They share no listing at all — every shield that names the Revolver omits the Revolver Evo, and every shield that names the Revolver Evo omits the Revolver. Buying on the strength of the word “Revolver” alone is the single most likely way to end up with a shield that will not clip in.
The other thing to watch is MIPS. Two of the ten shields in the top tier name the Qualifier DLX MIPS specifically rather than the plain Qualifier DLX. If you have a MIPS-equipped shell, read the fitment list on the product page rather than assuming the DLX entry covers you.
Every product page on this site carries a “Which helmets does this fit?” block listing the exact models the shield is matched to. That block is the authority. The category groupings on this page are a fast way to narrow the field, and the fitment list is how you confirm it before you order.
1. Bell Qualifier DLX — the widest choice in the range
The Qualifier DLX visor listings are the deepest set we hold for any Bell helmet: ten listings covering forty-one individual shields. Five of those listings are photochromic and five are fixed-tint, so the split between “one shield for everything” and “a shield per condition” is even.
The fixed-tint side is where the variety sits. One listing alone carries eleven finishes, running from clear through light and deep smoke to a set of light mirrored finishes in silver, red and blue. Another carries ten, weighted towards the deeper mirrored options. Between them you can get almost any look the range offers without leaving the Qualifier DLX fitment.
The MIPS caveat applies here more than anywhere else. Two of the ten listings name the Qualifier DLX MIPS rather than the standard DLX, and those two happen to be among the most varied. If your shell is the MIPS version, you gain access to those two and you should check the remaining eight individually rather than assuming they all carry across.
Where this group stops being useful is if you want something genuinely unusual. Depth here means depth of tint, not depth of shape — every one of the forty-one shields is the same physical profile, so there is no bubble option, no pinlock-post variant listed separately and no alternative aperture. You are choosing a colour and an optical behaviour, nothing more.
2. Bell RS-1 — the same shield tier, and the easiest to misread
The RS-1 visor listings number ten, with the same forty-one shields behind them. That is not a coincidence and it is not duplication in the catalogue: the RS-1 genuinely shares its aperture with the Qualifier DLX, the RS-2 and the Vortex, so the same ten products are matched to all four.
What makes the RS-1 worth its own entry is how often it is confused with the RS-2. The two are consecutive generations, the names differ by one character, and on this catalogue they take identical shields — which means a mistake between them costs you nothing. That is unusual and it is worth knowing, because the same is emphatically not true of the two Revolvers.
The RS-1 appears in the fitment list of every non-Bullitt shield we stock for Bell helmets. If you are shopping for one, you can effectively ignore the model filter and work from the tint you want instead. Start from the finish, confirm the RS-1 is named on the page, and order.
The one thing to check is the helmet itself rather than the shield. The RS-1 is an older model now, and a shell that has done a lot of miles may have a worn pivot plate or a tired ratchet. 3. Bell RS-2 — full coverage, current model
The RS-2 visor listings also number ten across forty-one shields. The RS-2 is the newer of the two RS helmets and it sits in the same shield tier, so everything said about the RS-1 applies here without modification.
Because the RS-2 is the more recent shell, it is the model most likely to be paired with a MIPS liner in the same buying decision, and the MIPS-specific listings are named for the Qualifier DLX MIPS rather than for any RS variant. The RS-2 is named on those listings in its own right, so you are covered either way, but read the fitment block rather than reasoning from the product title.
If you ride year-round on one helmet, the RS-2 is a good candidate for a photochromic shield. Five of its ten listings are photochromic, which is the highest count of any Bell group, and it means you can choose between a clear-base and a darker-base photochromic rather than taking whichever one happens to fit. The limitation is the same as for the whole tier. Forty-one choices sounds like a lot, and it is, but they are forty-one finishes on one profile. If your problem is fogging rather than glare, the shield finish is not the variable you need to change.
4. Bell Vortex — an older shell that lost nothing
The Vortex visor listings come to ten, again across the same forty-one shields. The Vortex is the oldest helmet in the top tier and it is the clearest illustration of why shield sharing matters to an owner.
A helmet going out of production usually means its consumables get harder to find, and after a few years the only remaining option is whatever a clearance bin still holds. That has not happened here, because the Vortex sits on the shield profile Bell kept using. Owners of a helmet that is years past its release still have the full current range available to them.
That said, age is a real consideration for the shell rather than the shield. A helmet is a consumable item, and the visor being replaceable does not extend the useful life of the protective structure underneath it. Fitting a fresh shield to a shell that is past its service life is money spent on the wrong part.

5. Bell Revolver — six listings, and a name that misleads
The Revolver visor listings come to six, carrying thirty-one shields between them. Three are photochromic and three are fixed-tint, which is a narrower but well-balanced set.
The Revolver drops out of the top tier for a specific reason: it is named on the two MIPS-family listings and on the widest fixed-tint listing, but it is absent from the four shields that name the Revolver Evo. Those four are what separate the two Revolvers, and they are why the group counts six rather than ten.
This is the fitment trap in the Bell range and it is worth stating twice. The Revolver and the Revolver Evo share nothing on this catalogue. Every one of the six shields matched to the Revolver omits the Evo, and every one of the four matched to the Evo omits the Revolver. Check which one is printed on your shell before you order, because the names are one word apart and the parts are not interchangeable.
Within those six, the choice is still good. The widest fixed-tint listing in the whole Bell range fits the Revolver, which is the one carrying eleven finishes, and it gives you light mirrored options as well as the deeper ones. 6. Bell Qualifier — the standard shell, narrower range
The Qualifier visor listings number four, covering sixteen shields. Two are photochromic and two are fixed-tint. The plain Qualifier is a different fitment from the Qualifier DLX despite the shared name, and the catalogue reflects that: only four of the ten DLX listings also name the standard Qualifier.
The two fixed-tint listings that fit are the seven-choice shields rather than the ten- and eleven-choice ones. Between them you get clear, black, silver, blue and a set of red-gold and revo finishes, which covers the ordinary range of what a rider actually wants without reaching the deeper mirrored options.
The photochromic side is where this group is genuinely well served. Both Qualifier photochromic listings are available, one with a black base and one that sits closer to clear, so you have a real choice rather than a single option. For a commuter helmet that goes out in every light condition, that is the more useful half of the range anyway.
What you lose relative to the DLX is the deep mirrored family. Those sit on the MIPS-family and wide fixed-tint listings, none of which name the standard Qualifier. If a deep revo finish is the reason you are shopping, the Qualifier fitment will not get you there and it is better to know that before you start.
7. Bell Star — four listings, and one to verify
The Star visor listings number four, across sixteen shields, with two photochromic and two fixed-tint. On the numbers the Star is identical to the Qualifier, and it takes the same four products.
There is a discrepancy here worth flagging, because it is the kind of thing that turns into a returns process. The Star category page lists four products, but one of those four — a photochromic listing — does not name the Bell Star in its own “Which helmets does this fit?” block. The category assignment and the fitment list disagree on that single item.
Treat the fitment list as the authority. Three of the four Star listings name the Star explicitly and those are safe; on the fourth, check the fitment block on the product page before you order, and if the Star is not named, do not assume the category placement overrides it. We would rather tell you that than have you find out after it arrives.
Setting that one item aside, the Star is well covered for a helmet of its age. Clear is available, the ordinary smoke and mirrored finishes are available, and there is at least one photochromic option confirmed on the fitment list. 8. Bell Revolver Evo — four listings, its own set
The Revolver Evo visor listings number four and carry ten shields, the smallest choice of any multi-listing group. Two are photochromic and two are fixed-tint.
Ten choices across four listings is a thin spread, and the reason is that three of those four listings are single-shield products: one clear fixed-tint, and two photochromic. Only one listing carries a real spread of finishes, the seven-choice shield, and that is where all your colour options live.
The Evo sits below the standard Revolver in this ranking despite being the newer helmet, and that is worth understanding rather than resenting. It is not that the Evo is poorly supported — it is that the widest fixed-tint listings in the Bell range were matched to the older Revolver and never extended to the Evo. The Evo instead shares its shields with the Qualifier DLX, RS-1, RS-2 and Vortex, which is a perfectly solid fitment, just a less varied one.
If you own an Evo and you want a mirrored finish, the seven-choice listing is the one to open. It carries silver, blue, red-gold and two revo finishes alongside clear and black. That is the whole of your fixed-tint range, so it is a short decision.
9. Bell Bullitt — one listing, and it shares with nothing
The Bullitt visor listing is a single product carrying nine shields. It is the only Bell fitment on this site that is genuinely exclusive to one helmet, and it has no photochromic option at all.
That is a function of the helmet rather than a gap in the catalogue. The Bullitt is a retro-styled shell with a shallow, wide aperture and a shield profile that has nothing in common with the Qualifier and RS family. Nothing else Bell makes could share it, so nothing else does.
The nine finishes are a reasonable spread for a single listing: clear, a light black and a dark black, silver, blue, red-gold, and three revo mirrored finishes. What you do not get is the choice between a light and a deep version of each mirrored colour, which the top-tier listings offer, and you do not get an auto-darkening option in any form.
If a photochromic shield is what you came for and you ride a Bullitt, there is no Bell-fitment answer on this site. The honest recommendation is a clear shield as your default and a separate darker shield for bright days, accepting the swap. Tint, glare and UK road use
Nothing on this page is ranked by road legality, and that is deliberate. The legal test in Great Britain turns on the marking carried by the individual eye protector, not on its colour or on who sold it, and we do not verify markings on individual items. So we do not describe any visor we sell as approved, certified or road legal, and you should treat any retailer who does with suspicion.
What we can tell you plainly is what a finish does to the light reaching your eyes. Mirrored, iridium and dark smoke finishes transmit too little light to be legal for road use in the UK, day or night. Do not soften that into a daytime-only rule — it is not one. Those finishes are for track, off-road and closed-course use, and the deep revo options in the Bell range sit squarely in that category.
Clear is the default for a reason. It works at every hour, it is the shield you want on the helmet when the weather turns, and if you are only buying one, buy that one. A photochromic shield is the compromise: it darkens in bright light and returns to near-clear as the light drops, which is why it is the practical choice for a single-helmet rider who does not want to carry a spare.
The seller side of this has teeth. Under section 18 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, it is an offence to sell or offer for sale an eye protector as authorised for use on a motorcycle when it is not of a type prescribed under that section. Subsection 7 makes clear the section covers eye protectors specifically. That is why the language on our product pages is about what a tint does, never about what it is approved for.
The rider side is covered by the Highway Code. Rules 83 to 88 for motorcyclists advise checking that your visor is clean and in good condition before each journey, and note that scratched or poorly fitting eye protectors can limit your view, particularly in bright sunshine and in darkness. That is the strongest practical argument for replacing a hazed shield rather than living with it.

How to choose a visor for your Bell
Start with the model name, not the year and not the look. It is printed inside the chin bar, under the lining, or on the strap label. Get that right and the rest of the decision is straightforward, because the fitment does most of the filtering for you.
Then decide between one shield or two. A photochromic shield is the one-shield answer and it suits a rider who commutes in variable light and does not want to carry a spare in a rucksack. Two fixed-tint shields — clear plus something darker for off-road use — is the cheaper answer and gives you a spare if one gets damaged.
Check the fitment block on the product page before you order, every time. This matters most if you ride a Revolver or a Revolver Evo, where the two names take entirely different shields, and on the Star, where one listing’s category placement and fitment list disagree. It takes ten seconds and it is the only check that reliably prevents a wrong part.
If the model name on your helmet is not one of the nine above, work from the visor finder rather than guessing from a neighbouring model. Visors are model-specific and a shield from an adjacent helmet in the same range usually will not clip in, which is the whole reason the Revolver and Revolver Evo split exists.
