How to clean a Pinlock insert step by step

  2. Flex the visor gently to release the insert. The insert is held by two eccentric pins under tension. A small outward flex of the visor releases that tension so the insert lifts away without being levered.
  3. Handle the insert by its edges only. Get into this habit immediately, before it is wet and slippery.
  4. Rinse it under cool running water. Let the water carry away dust and salt on its own. Do not help it along with a finger.
  5. Soak anything stubborn. Dried breath residue, bug remains or road film should be left submerged in cool water until it releases by itself. This can take twenty minutes, and that is normal.
  6. Rinse once more and stop. When the water sheets off the coated face rather than beading on it, the coating is intact and clean.
  7. Let it air-dry completely. Stand it on edge in still air. Do not wipe it, do not blow it dry and do not put it near a radiator.
